I have never experienced that. :O
But the lab seldom changes my pets' species. Usually, it just increases/ decreases the stats.
By the way, do you zap your main pet? |

Yes.
I also use the lab to train my main pet's stats, though the stats would become unbalanced.
But I would like to see more changes in species/ colours on my pet. |
