Hello everybody. Here comes a new game: Bi-weekly codestone.
We use this lottery to play our game using the results on Friday night.
http://www.masslottery.com/games/megamillions.htmlWe don't care about the MegaBall column.
Every week, we allow people to pick a number from 1-56. The numbers are first come first serve so anyone can pick but once it's taken then they can't pick those numbers. If one person pick one of the right numbers, then that person win the codestone for the week. If no one pick the right numbers, then the one closest win (we consider wrap around like #1 is closest to #56)
In case of tie (2 or more person pick the right numbers or 2 or more people are closest to the right numbers). Ex: the numbers are 12-13-15-41-42 and 3 people A, B, C pick 11, 14, 40.
The tie breaker is as following: we give numbers to A, B, C according to the order of their picked numbers (in this case A gets 0 for being smallest, B gets 1 and C gets 2 for being largest). Then we sum the lottery numbers 12 + 13 + 15 + 41 + 42 = 123. Then we do modulo* for 3 (because we have 3 people). In this case, it's 0. Then A will win for the week. i
If two or more person pick the right numbers, we also do the tie breaker.
*Modulo (mod) is the remainder of the division operation. For example:
6 mod 4 = 2 (if we take 6 divided 4, we get 1 and remain 2)
9 mod 3 = 0 (9 is divisible by 3, therefore, remainder is 0)
100 mod 3 = 1
Every week, you can show your picked number in this way:
For example, if Person A picks 23, he will enter like this:
